Miss Potter is the fine line between charming and cloying sure to please-legs. Apple cheeks Renee Zellweger (Bridget Jones' Diary) once again slips into a British accent to play writer / illustrator Beatrix Potter, creator of Peter Rabbit. Potter, born into wealth, fought the disapproval of her mother's high society to do something as rough as the publication of a book ... and fall in love with her publisher, Norman Warne (Ewan McGregor, who has teamed with Zellweger in Down With Love). Unfortunately, their love engaging in something worse than the upper class congestion. Miss Potter skips through Potter's life a little too quickly at times, but fortunately, the performance chosen Zellweger, McGregor infinite charm, and some beautiful images of the English landscape keep the movie grounded and engaging. Also featuring a crackling supporting performance by Emily Watson (Breaking the Waves) as sister Millie Warne. - Bret Fetzer
